Get Spring Ready

It’s coming! The season of new life, regrowth and perhaps most importantly, new fashion!

As Autumn draws into winter there is much excitement about the multi layering of winter clothes.  Warm hats, gorgeous gloves and time to break out all those chunky knit jumpers you have been storing away all summer.  However, the reality of biting cold winters and long raining weekends soon gets tiresome, so as we draw nearer to Spring, it’s time to get excited about peeling off a few layers.

Spring officially begins in March, so it’s fair to expect there to still be a chill in the air, however it is the perfect season to bust out the trench coat.

Military style has been oh so cool for a number of years now and one of the coolest ways to get in on the trend is adding a good quality trench to your coat collection.  Material should be lightweight and free moving.  It may be worth investing in a water resistant version for the April showers.  Stick to light colours or brights for maximum impact, although the trench loved by most fashionistas is the camel.  Camel is a colour you can mix up with all kinds of pastels and greys, so it won’t let you down when you are throwing together your daily outfits.  Go for double breasted to add a little more detail, the ultimate trench should skim your knees offering a really classy elegance.  Whether you are chucking it over jeans and a shirt or belting it up over a little black dress, this is one spring must have you need hanging on the hook.

It’s not yet the season for sandals but you can start playing with your spring boot.  Heavy winter boots like the Chelsea boot, can look just as elegant with a lace dress as they do with a pair of skinny jeans.  Black is a little too blocky for spring, so invest in a brushed suede pair.  The tassel trend isn’t fading either, so if you want to get in on the action without standing out too much, there are loads of boots with the detailing on the high street.  If you are working in an office get some tips on how to stay on trend at work with this guide

If you are stepping out with a newborn, check out the outfits on Jane.com and think about getting in sync with your little one.  It’s a fantastic season for adding tights to floral dresses so think about turning a few eyes by matching yours and baby’s legwear! Trust us, it’s a fashion craze right now! Just remember, Mum first, fashion second.  It is the only time this rule counts.

Spring is all about light, bright and fresh looks.  Ditching the darks of winter and mixing up a little bit of colour.  Take a look at what the season brings in nature and be inspired by what you see around you.  Add flashes of colour to pretty neutral colours or hints of pastel to your makeup and accessories.

The world is your runway! Let’s get on it!
