3 Heath Risks to Eradicate From Your Home Right Now

Your home should be a safe and tranquil space, a place where you can relax, work, play, eat and dream. Your home is so much more than a building, it is most likely the only place in the world that you can truly call your own. But unfortunately, for many people, the home is not as safe as it should be.

While building regulations are there to protect us from rogue builders and landlords, for many people, there are still dangers in the home that could cause serious health issues later on. This is absolutely unacceptable. Here are 3 dangers to watch out for in your own home.
Asbestos
Asbestos is a really useful material in its solid state and is often found in scientific labs where it is a great insulator. The problem is that when it is broken down, asbestos is highly carcinogenic and can cause some serious health issues in people who are exposed to it for a long time as NBA law firm knows only too well.

If you are worried about asbestos in your home, the best advice is to get a professional in to identify and remove any materials containing asbestos. You should never disturb any materials you believe may contain asbestos and you should never take samples yourself.
Damp
Damp is most often found during the winter months and can cause mold to start growing on the walls. The main problem here is that the fungus can cause respiratory conditions like asthma to flare and reduce lung function. It can also affect your mental health and, let’s be honest, it’s not great to look at either!

To deal with damp, you should make sure that your home is well insulated and properly ventilated. Double check that there are no leaks in the roof or cracks in window and door frames. You may need to use bleach to remove mold growths but often soapy water does the trick. Redecorating is advisable but do make sure you have eliminated the problem before you do!
Indoor Air Pollution
We tend to think of air pollution as a city problem but it can also affect your home. Even inside, air quality should be your top priority. Again, proper ventilation is the best way to deal with air pollution indoors but you might also like to invest in an air purifier or even an ionizing air purifier if you have allergies to dust or pollen. Clearing the air inside should help you to relax and reduce the symptoms of allergies you have such as a scratchy throat or blocked nose.

Hoovering and wiping down surfaces each week should be a bare minimum for your household cleaning schedule. If you or your family have any respiratory conditions or illnesses, you might even do this each day to prevent the condition from getting worse.

With a bit of care and attention, any home can be completely safe, you just need to watch out for these largely hidden risks to your health.
