How To Turn Your Boring Basement Into A Trendy Home Office

When you’re a huge lover of home decor, you may find that you soon run out of rooms to style. As a self-starter and someone that just wants to get things done, you’ve probably been around the entire house and transformed each room into a stunning showroom worthy space. And that can be incredibly satisfying. But, then when you make a life-changing decision such as setting up your own business or working from home, you may feel as if you’re going to have to rejig all of your hard work. But, you don’t! Just look down! That boring old basement that you never use is the perfect place to build your stylish home office in. So let’s get rid of the stuff you’re storing in it and get to work!

1. Take Care Of The Space
Now that the area is clear and you’re ready to get started, think for a second. It’s in your nature to reach for the paintbrush and go to town with your favorite shade of greige, but you have to make sure that the room is really ready first. Because we are talking about a room that hasn’t been used in years. First off, waterproof your basement is a must. You’ll also want to check for any foundation issues or mold. That way, when your office is complete, you won’t have to worry about any issues creaking through.

2. Work On The Entryway
Now that the structure is sound, you can get to work on transforming the space into the perfect (and ultra-professional) home office. To start, you’re going to want to head to the top of the stairs and work on your entryway. Make sure that your door is painted and perfect, work on the basement stairs if they need replacing or a bit of a facelift first. Once you’ve set the tone and created the right first impressions for space, you can then tackle the rest of the room.

3. Decorate Your Shell
Then you can get started on the thing you’re dying to do the most - decorating. Choose your paint colors and transform the walls. Then, pick out the perfect flooring and arrange for that to be laid down too. When both steps are done, your shell will start to take shape.

4. Work In Your Office Equipment
Now it’s time to pick out the perfect desk, a comfortable chair, and any storage that you need. To do this, you’re going to want to find some inspiration online, and shop around to make sure that you’ve got pieces that really bring the room alive.

5. Perfect The Finishing Touches
Lastly, you’re then going to want to work on the ideal finishing touches for the room. There are lots of different home office must-haves that you’ll need to think about, but don’t be afraid to decorate with flowers, artwork, and soft furnishings too. Oh, and don’t forget the all-important coffee machine to help you fuel your working day. Then, your boring basement will be transformed into the stylish office of your dreams.
