4 Easy Ways to Add Exercise to Your Daily Routine

Many of us would love to go out and be more active. But many of us simply don’t have the motivation or time to do so. However, seamlessly incorporating exercise into your daily routine will help you get into better health without having to try to modify your diet or feel crunched for time. Here are 4 easy ways to add exercise to your daily routine. We’ll focus on convenient strategies that nearly everyone can adapt relatively painlessly.

Walk as Much as You Can

One of the easiest ways to add exercise to your daily routine is to find ways to walk more. Park 3 to 4 blocks away from work and walk to the entrance. Take the dog for formal walks every day instead of just letting them out in the yard. Walk with your children to a local park so they can play instead of relegating them to the swing set out back.

Let your bonding time with a partner be a romantic walk instead of vegging out in front of the TV. If you’re watching your kids play sports, try to get active as well. If you already walk somewhere periodically, shift to a scenic route and add another thousand steps to your routine.

Do More Chores Around the House

One way we can get more exercise is to do more things around the house. Don’t pay someone else to walk the dog, scrub your pool or for housekeeping, consider doing it yourself. This physically demanding labor is something that you have to do periodically, so you’ll be getting a regular workout while saving money at the same time.

Be Active When Idle

A great way to find time to exercise is to engage in it when you’re otherwise idle. You could ride a stationary bike or use a rowing machine while watching TV so that you don’t have to carve out time to work-out. If you don’t have workout equipment, you can always do calisthenics while watching TV. The iron cross exercise, for example, is a great routine you can do since you can do it while still watching the screen.

When you’re taking a break at your desk, stretch or use light weights to exercise for a few minutes. When you’re in line somewhere, flex and stretch.

Change How You Socialize

Instead of going out to eat after drinks with friends, ask them if they want to play games or go to a local YMCA for a game of pick up ball or badminton, then go for a meal. Ask if they want to change things up by going to an indoor trampoline place, obstacle course or golf course instead. Sports are a great way to create bonds with your friends and increase your level of activity without it being a chore.

The easiest ways to increase your activity level are to work it into your daily routine. It may require modifying your existing routine to add activity, or it may involve changing how you do things on a regular basis. However, anything you do to increase your level of activity will pay off in the long run.

  1. Great tips . Chores are always good exercise. I always try to walk to the store instead of driving as well.
