How A Change Of Scenery After a Difficult Period Can Turn Things Around

It is sad but true that bad things happen in our lives that we cannot control. These things can cause us to have difficult periods in our lives. In order to get through the periods, we often need help and support from professionals and loved ones. We also need our own sense of motivation and determination.

But what about afterward? Once you are through the worst of it, support may dry up slowly. The people who were previously helping you will move on to other issues, even if you’re not quite ready for that.

However, even when the support lessens, there is still others way you can help yourself. One of these is a change of scenery. This is a broad term but can be put into practice in a number of ways. It could be something as simple as moving your furniture around in your bedroom. It could be checking into a form of rehab, for some 24-hour support. It could even be going on a short holiday, either alone or with friends, to get some new perspective.

Let’s look in closer detail at all three of these options.

1) Making your home feel new and fresh
While this is a very small scale task, it can make a really big difference to how you feel. If you’re after a change of scenery, it doesn’t have to mean moving house! It can quite simply mean changing what you see when you are inside your home. So, take a look at your bedroom. Is there some rearranging you could do? Could you put the bed in a different place, maybe shift some furniture? You could focus on ways to let more light into the room, or even consider some different Feng Shui principles. Sometimes just waking up and falling asleep in a familiar yet slightly different environment can turn things around. Consider doing the same in other rooms in your house. How about having a big clear out of your desk, and moving your workspace to face the window? A new and fresh vibe can also come from cleaning? How about emptying all of your kitchen cupboards, so you have a newly clean and open space to cook and bake in?

2) Getting support in rehab
An alternative option for a change of scenery is to check yourself into a rehabilitation clinic. If you have been through a period of addiction, this could be just what you need. You can get 24-hour support, and there will always be someone around if you need support or guidance. Remember that alcohol rehab centers and drug rehab centers are these days modern, support and overall positive places to be. A stay in one could give you just the fresh start you are looking for.

3) Going traveling, or on vacation
A third option is to go traveling or on a vacation. This is quite an extreme option and one you may not feel ready for yet. But going away to a different part of the country, or even a new country, could help you to heal. Immerse yourself in new surroundings and even hear a new language. You could find yourself coming home with a new sense of purpose, and the ability to leave your difficult period firmly in the past.

  1. I totally can relate to this. We moved to a new house for about a month ago and everything is turning up really good. I like it how I can enjoy the morning with less worry of everything. :)
