How Women Can Build Confidence in the Middle of the Pandemic

 


The pandemic affected everybody from all walks of life. It turned everybody's lives upside down. But the health crisis has a more pronounced effect on women, particularly working mothers who shoulder most of the responsibilities at home.


While working fathers were also affected by the closure of schools and daycare centers, the mothers took on taking care of the kids. Some even reduced their working hours or quit their jobs completely.

 

Aside from this, more women lost their jobs due to the pandemic than men. Women accounted for 55 percent of job losses since the health crisis started. In December 2020, the economy lost a net of 140,000 jobs, and all of these jobs were for women. This shows the disproportionate impact of the pandemic on women.

 

Despite these discouraging figures, women continued to take care of the children, the elderly, and their chores. They use an average of around 20 hours more per week to these activities than men, which is similar to working a part-time job.

 

The situation may also overburden women throughout the pandemic and may affect their self-esteem. But there are ways for women to build their confidence in the middle of the pandemic. Here are some things they can do.

 

Avoid Comparisons with Others

Comparisons with others only lead to envy and will result in lower self-esteem. Due to this, it's important to avoid comparing possession, skills, attributes, and wealth since this is not healthy. It can also lead to extreme stress and possibly hair loss.

 

To deal with this, women should try to be aware of when they start comparing themselves with other people. When they notice this, they can remind themselves that it is not helpful and they should focus on other things.

 

One thing that they can do is to try to help others. While this is challenging with the current situation, they can connect with people who have stayed at home since the pandemic started. They can call them or talk with them virtually using a teleconferencing app. This may give them a new perspective of the good life they currently have. Besides, connecting with a friend they haven't seen in a long time is much better than trying to find a hair loss solution for men and women on the internet.

 

Practice Self-Compassion

Practicing self-compassion is a good way for women to motivate themselves and build their confidence. They should keep in mind that they are human, and they should treat themselves with kindness whenever they make mistakes.

 

Instead of focusing on their failures, they should think that people make mistakes sometimes. They can think about how they would talk to a friend who makes a similar mistake. They should remind themselves that people sometimes mess up things and no one is perfect.


Additionally, self-compassion can also help people succeed since it allows them to correct themselves and do better the next time.


Take Care of the Body

Building confidence is easier when people are healthy and fit. So, it's a good idea for women to take care of their health to help them boost their confidence. When they have a positive feeling about the body and mind, they will have the confidence they need to deal with the current situation.

 

Taking care of the body means eating right. When they eat right, they'll feel stronger and healthier. They will have the energy to tackle anything that comes their way. Aside from a good diet, they can also exercise. Studies have shown that physical activity positively affects self-esteem, allowing people to boost their confidence levels.

 

Getting enough sleep is also a good way to take care of the body. It also builds up the immune system, which is important during the pandemic. And lastly, meditation can also help build self-confidence since it prevents negative self-talk. It also allows people to focus on building their confidence.

 

Master a New Skill

Mastering a new skill is also another way for a woman to build confidence. This means they have to embrace any challenges that come their way and learn a new skill. They could use the newly-mastered skill to find a job if they lost one during the pandemic. They can focus on computer skills that allow them to work remotely. These skills may include coding, web design, and video editing. Additionally, these skills also look good if they're planning to ask for a raise if they still have a job.

 

The effect of the pandemic was tough on women, which may have affected their self-confidence. But they can easily work on their self-confidence so they can get back on their feet and make life easier for them.
