5 Valentine's Day Gifts Every Mom Would Love

While planning a perfect Valentine’s Day surprise comes easily for young lovers, when it comes to those who aren’t ‘just the two of us’, things are a tad trickier. There is careful and timely planning involved, so you better get a jump start on things if you want to make this one the best one yet. To that end, we have done our due diligence and come up with some amazing ideas that will help you show the woman in your life just how much she means to you, so take your pick.

Make a break for it

Hire a babysitter, ask your parents to lend a helping hand, organize a village if you must, but make it happen. As wonderful as parenting is, a woman needs to feel like a woman again, and the two of you need a short escape in order to rekindle the passion and remind yourselves that you are still a hot, loving couple. A weekend getaway to a city she’s always dreamed of visiting is just what the love doctor ordered, so book a nice hotel, get the tickets and surprise her with a basket full of goodies (tickets included) and make a run for it. With the kid(s) in good hands, the two of you can roam unknown streets, have a romantic dinner – whatever comes to mind. This is the romantic gesture that she not just wants but definitely craves.

Make the most of it

If you aren’t exactly in a position to execute the perfect scenario, there are backup options that are all but ‘consolation prizes’. If there is no one to mind the kids for an entire weekend, there is surely a solution that will give the two of you at least several hours of uninterrupted romance time. Trick your lady out of the house for a bit, run some errands and while she’s out and cooks her favorite meal. Pull all the stops; her favorite flowers on the dinner table, a box of chocolates, a great bottle of Wendouree Shiraz Mataro 2015 and perhaps even a piece of jewelry, (although the last one isn’t essential). When she comes home, put on the moves, no baby talk. Drink, eat, reminisce about all the great times you’ve had so far, and if there happens to be dancing, so be it. Of course, make sure you don’t end your ‘moves’ there. Make it a night she’ll remember.

Just for her

Sometimes a lady needs her alone time. So, once you’ve had a great morning – preparing breakfast and generally pampering her, it’s time to send her on her way. Where? To a place of some serious pampering, of course. Nothing makes a mom feel like a woman again like a great spa day. Massages, facials, hot tubs, the works. She needs to feel rejuvenated and replenished, and a day where everyone is running around trying to make her feel like a goddess can’t be trumped. You’re welcome to join if you can find a sitter, but if not, sacrifice your day for her sake, you know she deserves it.

The winner

Some women love jewelry, well, most women do. However, moms, especially new moms with their hands full, sometimes have a hard time feeling good about themselves. Pregnancy takes a toll on the body, and on the face as well, often in the form of skin discoloration and melasma. One of the absolute best things you can do is some research – visit your nearest Sephora and get your lady a huge care package with all the right skincare products. The people are usually highly helpful and will find all the right products. Throw in an Urban Decay Palette, a Kat Von D eyeliner, a great nourishing foundation and a few lippies in her favorite shades. If you’re completely clueless about skincare and makeup products, just take her to Sephora and say the magic ‘get whatever you want’ words. It will be like taking a baby to a candy store, and the words are absolute magic, believe us.

The keeper

If you do decide to take a traditional route and say it with a piece of jewelry, it should be something meaningful that signifies your journey. A charm necklace with little symbols signifying the most important moments of your marriage and your parenting journey will be so moving it might bring tears of joy. A golden locket with a picture of the kid(s) and the two of you might be an even better option so it’s really a judgment call. Either way, there is no chance of doing it wrong.
